Greater Manchester Police officers executed a warrant at a premises in Manchester city centre on (1 June 2026), following reports of drug dealing, anti-social behaviour, and associated criminality.

The warrant was carried out in partnership with Manchester City Council Trading Standards, Licensing and Anti-Social Behaviour teams, with support from Greater Manchester Police’s Specialist Operations Branch, including the Tactical Aid Unit (TAU) and Specialist Dog Unit.

Following the execution of a warrant at a business on Tib Street, one man, aged 56, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession with intent to supply Class C drugs.

At a separate address in North Manchester, a second man, aged 23, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

A third man, aged 23, was also later arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

Inspector Kam Hare, from Greater Manchester Police’s City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“We have listened carefully to the concerns raised by residents and businesses across the Northern Quarter, who have reported persistent issues linked to drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour.

These concerns were reinforced at our recent PACT (Police and Communities Together) meeting, which was attended by 45 residents and business representatives from the Northern Quarter.

Acting on that information and intelligence, officers executed a warrant targeting those believed to be involved in criminal activity in the area.

On Thursday 4 June 2026, we attended Manchester Magistrates’ Court and were successful in securing a Closure Order. This demonstrates the strength of the evidence gathered and ensures that this premises cannot continue to be used in a way that harms the community.

As part of this action, officers have secured a Closure Order under Section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 at the Tib Street premises. The order prohibits access to the property and will remain in force until 23:59 on 3 September 2026, with only limited exceptions for the property owner and authorised persons carrying out maintenance or removing stock.

Anyone who enters or remains on the premises in breach of the order commits a criminal offence and may face imprisonment.

This enforcement action follows ongoing concerns raised by residents and businesses across the Northern Quarter, particularly in relation to drug dealing, drug misuse, and associated anti-social behaviour.

We will continue working closely with partners to gather intelligence, take targeted enforcement action, and ensure Manchester city centre remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.”

I have been away for the last week and have returned to work today. We had no motor vehicle crime or burglaries reported in that time.
We have had a theft of motor vehicle reported today, 04/06/26 in LADBROKE ROAD a Renault car was stolen. This was then recovered shortly after near to the location.

We know that people can be concerned about the personal and financial impact of having their vehicle stolen, which is why we will pursue and arrest those who break the law. Please consider taking the following steps to keep your vehicle safe:

Check that your vehicle is locked and secure every time you leave it. Thieves often look for easy opportunities to steal from vehicles. They will usually try the handles until they get lucky and find one that has been left unlocked.
Keep your keys safe, out of view when at home and away from your front door.
If you have a keyless entry vehicle, keep the key well away from the vehicle while at home and turn off wireless signals on your fob when its not being used. Consider putting the keys in a screened or signal blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag and check that it is still working every few months.
Park your vehicle in a private garage if you can. If you don’t have access to one, try to park in a well –lit open space.
Try to use public car parks that are part of the police approved Park Mark safer parking scheme.
Secure your number plates with tamper resistant screws to avoid them being stolen and used by others.

Justice secured following the murder of Cambridge student

I am writing to you following today’s sentencing of a man convicted of the murder of Cambridge student Mohammed Algasim.

Mohammed was just 20 years old and had come to Cambridge on a 10‑week placement to study English. On the evening of 1 August, he was fatally stabbed in Mill Park. Despite the courageous efforts of members of the public and off‑duty doctors and paramedics who tried to save him, Mohammed sadly died from his injuries later that night.

This was a shocking and deeply tragic incident, and my thoughts, and those of everyone at Cambridgeshire Constabulary, remain with Mohammed’s family and friends as they continue to live with their loss.

Following an extensive investigation led by our Major Crime Unit, Chas Corrigan was identified, arrested and charged. The investigation relied on CCTV footage, swift public appeals and crucial information provided by members of the community. Today, after a two‑week trial at Cambridge Crown Court, Corrigan was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 22 years and six months. His father, Peter Corrigan, was also sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to assisting an offender.

This sentence reflects the seriousness of Corrigan’s actions and the devastating consequences of choosing to carry a knife in a public place. One decision led to the loss of a young man’s life and caused immeasurable harm to his family and wider community.

I would like to thank everyone who came forward with information and those who acted so selflessly at the scene. Your actions were invaluable and played a significant part in securing justice for Mohammed.

Knife crime has devastating consequences, and we remain committed to tackling it through enforcement, prevention and education, working closely with our partners to keep Cambridge safe.

Arrest Earls Court Road

Dear Residents,

This afternoon, Earls Court officers conducted patrols across Earls Court Road, Longridge Road, West Cromwell Road, and Hogarth Road to address ongoing anti-social behaviour concerns.

During these patrols, two individuals were identified and issued Anti-Social Behaviour warnings for loitering and being in possession of drug paraphernalia. They were subsequently moved on from the area.

Additionally, an arrest was made at Sainsbury’s on Earls Court Road. The individual was found to be in breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order , which prohibits them from entering the SW5 area. PC Hunter is currently in custody with the suspect and is preparing the case for court in the morning.

Between 16:30 on 31/05/26 and 07:30 on 01/06/26 unknown offenders have stolen a 66-plate white Ford Transit Luton van without keys from the driveway of an address on Gorsey Bank Road, Hockley.

The vehicle has two blue stripes on the front bonnet and a Ford logo sticker on the front bulk head.

FEMALE ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT EMERGENCY WORKER AND DRIVING OFFENCES

On Saturday 30th May at around 19:15 we were called to Caledonian, Glascote following reports of a female causing a disturbance.

When officers attended they were pointed in the direction of the offending female who was driving a black Renault in the car park at Caledonian.

Officers approached the vehicle and opened the door to speak with the female who was suspected to be under the influence and unfit to drive. The female became aggressive and assaulted one of the attending officers.

The 51-year-old female, from Stonydelph, was arrested for driving whilst unfit through drink and assaulting an emergency worker. She was also dealt with for driving whilst disqualified and without insurance. The Renault was subsequently seized.

She has since been released on bail and is due in court next month.

Protect Yourself from Street Robbery

At this time of year with the weather being a lot warmer we are out and about and the risk of having your necklace snatched or your mobile phone snatch is higher than in the winter months. Please read some of the advice below on how to protect yourself day to day.

Here are some useful ways to keep you and your property safe on the street.

Look confident

You are less likely to be targeted if you look confident. Move with purpose and try to be aware of your surroundings.

Know where you’re going

Plan your route and think about what to take with you, especially if you’re going somewhere you haven’t been before. Keep to busy, well-lit streets, walkways and paths which are more likely to be covered by CCTV. Only take licensed taxis or minicabs booked by phone or a mobile phone app.

Hide it

Keep your mobile phone and valuables out of sight. If you’re using your phone it’s more likely to be snatched from your hand as you’re not paying attention to your surroundings, so look around you.

And never leave a mobile, any other device, wallet or purse on the table of an outdoor café, pub or restaurant. Same goes for any jewellery you might be wearing – keep it covered when walking down the street.

Be aware of your surroundings

If you need to call or use your phone on the street, look out for anyone on a bike or a moped near you. Look up, look out

Make it quick so you don't become distracted

Don't text while you're walking – you won't notice what's going on around you

If that's not possible, stand away from the roadside, close to a building or wall, so no one can come up behind you

Going hands-free can prevent a thief from snatching your phone out of your hand

Heathway team update

Yesterday, the Heathway Team were patrolling The Mall, Heathway, when they received a call of an aggressive shoplifter detained by security, officers attended and arrested the male for x2 shoplifting.

Today officers were on foot patrol, when they came across a female who was wanted by the Heathway Team in connection with x2 burglaries. She was arrested, taken to custody, and charged for both offenses.

We’d like to thank everybody for their support and patience while the Second World War bomb in Coventry was safely dealt with.

Working together with soldiers from 8 Engineer Brigade conducting Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), partners managed the incident from initial discovery through to a render safe, consisting of a controlled detonation of the fuse yesterday evening and the subsequent safe removal of the bomb.

Today, West Midlands Fire Service released drone footage of the moment of the controlled detonation.

The device was reported at 2.55pm on Tuesday after being discovered during construction work at Sandy Lane Business Park, prompting a multi-agency response to protect the public and support those affected.

Coventry City Council played a key role in supporting residents affected by the incident. Staff from across the Council worked overnight, with a rest centre established at Central Library which remained open until after midnight and supported almost 50 people.

The Council’s Housing and Homelessness team worked alongside the Emergency Duty Team to ensure anyone requiring overnight accommodation received it. In total, 15 households — comprising 37 people and one dog — were provided with accommodation.

Council teams also supported the operational response, with colleagues at Whitley Depot sourcing 340 tonnes of sand, delivered to the site by 6am to assist EOD in safely managing the device.

For the public’s safety, a 100-metre cordon was put in place, resulting in 96 homes being evacuated.

All cordons have now been lifted, and people have been returning home.

Leading the partnership response, Assistant Chief Constable Mike O’Hara said: "Our approach throughout has been to keep everyone safe while minimising disruption to the local community.

"Coventry City Council has provided significant support to displaced residents and worked closely with partners to ensure people had access to accommodation and welfare support.

"Thanks to EOD’s expertise and the dynamic render safe planning the cordon was kept to a minimum of 100 metres, preventing a much wider evacuation and limiting disruption to homes and businesses."

Col Nick Handy commended all his soldiers for their efforts.

He said: "I would like to thank everyone for their co-operation and support over the last day to bring this to a safe conclusion.”

Coventry Ch Supt Paul Joyce said: "I just want to give my thanks to everybody that was involved, including the local authority, fire and rescue, our military colleagues, and all of my own officers that were present making the environment safe for everybody to come and go."

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Richard Stanton said: "Coventry Fire Station was designated as the official rendezvous point for the operation, providing a central and secure location for emergency responders and partner organisations to coordinate activity and maintain situational awareness.

"Its close proximity to the detonation site proved invaluable. The station offered a safe and accessible base for operational briefings, welfare support, and rest and recovery, enabling personnel from multiple agencies to work together effectively throughout the incident.

"We would like to thank everyone involved in making these arrangements possible. The successful outcome reflects the professionalism, cooperation and shared commitment of all those who worked to protect and support the local community."

The Shirebrook, Bolsover and Creswell Safer Neighbourhood Teams have been out again today, working proactively to keep our communities safe.

With the assistance of our colleagues from the Dog Section and other supporting officers, a Section 8 PACE warrant was executed at an address in Bramley Vale.

During the search, a quantity of Class B drugs was located and seized. Our enquiries into this matter are ongoing.

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vandalism/ graffiti, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

There has been a distinctive graffiti tag appearing around Ealing Broadway ward particularly around Amherst Road and Mortimer Road.
We hope the five tips below will help prevent your property becoming a tagging target. Please continue to report graffiti on your property to the police.

We want to ensure everyone is able to keep their property safe from vandalism or defacement in your local area. As such, through conversations with homeowners, members of the public, police officers and staff we’ve collated our 5 Top Tips for safeguarding a property. Please see the advice listed below:

Stay visible: Having a property that can’t be seen from the street may make it more susceptible to being a target of vandalism. Make sure you are limiting places around your property where vandals can hide.
Create a fence/boundary: By doing this, you’re creating a visible barrier that works as a reminder that if someone crosses uninvited, they would be trespassing.
Keep it secure: Evaluate your property and be sure to safeguard vulnerable points such as ground floor windows with one-metre high sharp, prickly bushes.
Extra security: If you have a surface which anyone can sit on – like a ledge or a low wall – some carefully placed plants can work as a good deterrent. Also, you can secure the side and rear boundary of your property with a two-metre-high fence topped with a trellis.
Keep it tidy: If the property looks untidy, some people won’t think twice about adding to it or simply hanging around in the area. We would advise you not to leave rubbish, ladders, wheelie bins or anything else that could be used for burglary or vandalism in the property's vicinity.

Hello,

We are supporting a local Feelings of Safety campaign focused on women who run in our communities, we sent a request for the survey completion last month, if anyone hasn't had a chance to complete and would like to be involved, this survey is aimed at better understanding where and when female runners feel safe – and where they do not.

We know that running is an important activity for many women, but concerns around harassment, anti-social behaviour, or personal safety can influence routes, timings, or even stop people running altogether. This short, anonymous survey gives female runners the opportunity to share their experiences and highlight any locations or times where they feel vulnerable.

The information gathered will help inform future local engagement and operational activity, ensuring resources are targeted where they can make the greatest difference.

The survey is anonymous and takes only a few minutes to complete. We would really appreciate you taking part and sharing it with any female runners, running clubs, gyms, or community groups you are involved with.

Between 2015 and 2024, 67 riders lost their lives and 595 were seriously injured on Staffordshire roads.
The most common cause of collisions? Poor observation — by riders and other road users.

The Shirebrook, Bolsover and Creswell Safer Neighbourhood Teams have been out again today, working proactively to keep our communities safe.

With the assistance of our colleagues from the Dog Section and other supporting officers, a Section 8 PACE warrant was executed at an address in Bramley Vale.

During the search, a quantity of Class B drugs was located and seized. Our enquiries into this matter are ongoing.

Recovery Stolen Vehicle

Whilst conducting house-to-house enquiries in connection with an ongoing investigation of a stolen vehicle, City NPT located a vehicle that had previously been reported as stolen.

The vehicle was identified at a residential address whilst local enquiries were being carried out within the local area.

The discovery was made as a direct result of proactive enquiries being undertaken by officers in the community.

House-to-house visits remain an important investigative tool, allowing officers to gather information, identify potential lines of enquiry, and provide reassurance to residents.

The recovery of the vehicle represents a positive outcome from these enquiries and forms part of ongoing efforts to detect crime, recover stolen property, and protect communities across South Wales.

We've now identified and spoken to the person who was reported to be acting suspiciously and who had been pictured in social media images.

We have also reviewed other, higher-quality imagery from the area and are satisfied that he did not have a weapon, and has not committed any offences.

Caravan Security

Each year around 1,400 caravans are stolen in the UK. Very few are ever returned to their original owner, partly because they can ‘disappear’ into an illicit network of buyers and sellers, and partly because, when a caravan is found by the police, all identifying marks have been removed - it is not uncommon for thieves to grind out the VIN number from the caravan windows.

Thefts occur all year round; historically most thefts occur either from home (or other private residences) or commercial storage sites, but occasionally thefts will occur from caravan sites 9seasonal pitches or storage areas), dealerships or repairers, car parks and lay-bys.

Many caravan security devices are available on the market, from alarms to wheelclamps. There are also alarms and sophisticated tracking systems available costing hundreds of pounds. Please see the below link for more details.

This van was seized today on HOCKERS LANE DETLING by PC DENNEY and PC PHILLIPS after checks revealed it was being driven without valid road tax.

Driving an untaxed vehicle is against the law and can lead to seizure, fines, and additional costs to get it back. Our team will continue to proactively target uninsured and untaxed vehicles to keep our roads safe and fair for everyone.

Putting Victims First

More support for families impacted by child to parent abuse

I have agreed fresh funding alongside partners to sustain the work of a vital service working with young people and their parents and carers to tackle child to parent violence.

Up to 120 children and young people and their families stand to benefit from specialist support following approval by the County Durham and Darlington Serious Violence Prevention Partnership to invest funding worth £47,510 to expand the delivery of the Respect Young People’s Programme (RYPP) across the force area, alongside two new additional Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA) Ambassadors

Saving young lives through drug education

Educational workshops and a live theatre production for pupils have been delivered in local schools to warn of the consequences of taking illicit drugs.

I joint-funded a major new pilot led by drugs education charity Daniel Spargo Mabbs Foundation to help parents and carers confidently manage conversations around drug harm with their children and deliver awareness sessions targeted at pupils, closing a critical gap in drug education provision for young people. Every conversation, every warning we share, every young person we reach, could stop another young live being stolen by drugs.

Safer Neighbourhoods

Teamwork delivering results in Darlington

Huge strides are being made to crackdown on street violence and sexual offences in Darlington thanks to joint problem-solving.

Latest figures from the force on behalf of Darlington Community Safety Partnership covering October to December 2025 reveal overall crime in the town fell 6.6% compared to last year, with sweeping reductions also reported for violent crime (-10.8%) possession of weapons offences (-58.3%), sexual offences (-14.3%), Fly-tipping (-37.6%) and street begging (-67.2%).

Tackling anti-social driving

More than 50 anti-social vehicles have been taken off our roads along with 1,250 uninsured vehicles and 138 unlicensed drivers.

The figures were revealed by the force at my latest Public Accountability Meeting focusing on police visibility and the excellent work underway to keep our communities safe.

New fast-track reporting tool for shopkeepers and customers

I’ve funded 2,000 new stickers containing a QR code that allows shopkeepers, businesses and shoppers to report ASB instantly via their smart phone.

The idea was coined by a young police cadet called Jacob who came up with the concept while carrying out a leaflet drop in Darlington to raise awareness of ASB and where victims can access support. Our cadets are helping officers and partners as part of Operation Trailblazer which has seen thousands of hours of extra enforcement and visibility patrols taking place across 34 ‘hotspot’ locations.

I recently signed a new anti-racism pledge vowing to stand in solidarity with partners in challenging racism and religious hatred across Durham.

The North East Anti-Racism Coalition’s (NEARC) ‘Become the Bridge’ campaign

calls on North East organisations to take meaningful action to challenge racism within their operations and systems, and to foster a workplace culture where people stand together and act consistently to reject racial prejudice.

Protecting horses and riders on our roads

I am fully supporting the British Horse Society’s Dead Slow campaign, reminding motorists to take simple actions to protect horses and riders on our roads.

We know that only around 10% of road incidents are ever reported, meaning many dangerous behaviours go unseen and unchallenged. Simple actions from drivers – slowing down, giving plenty of space, and being patient – can save lives and prevent serious injuries.

Safer Roads

Operation Takeover continues to prevent avoidable tragedies

Officers from the Roads and Armed Policing Unit carried out Operation Take Off at Teeside International Airport, stopping drivers returning from holiday and getting behind the wheel and making them think twice about driving under the influence.

The operation was launched following the devastating loss of baby Zackary Blades and his aunt Karlene Warner, who were killed on their way home from Newcastle International Airport in May 2024.

Durham officers to scale Britain’s highest peaks

Twenty serving police officers and staff are taking on the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge to raise awareness of road safety.

My office is proudly contributing towards the epic climb which will take place over 18th and 19th June with the double aim of boosting awareness of the devastating impact of road deaths and serious injuries and raising money for 4Louis which specialise in supporting people affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and the death of a baby or child.

Alongside delivering locally, I continue to champion the issues that matter most to our communities at a national level.

This includes:

Leading national work on roads policing and road safety reform
Campaigning for stronger action on addiction, substance misuse and gambling-related harm
Supporting prevention and early intervention approaches to drug-related crime
Influencing national discussions on police funding and reform to ensure communities receive the service they deserve

National decisions have real local consequences and I will continue ensuring the voice of County Durham and Darlington is heard strongly at the national table.

VIDEO DOORBELL REQUESTS

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be testing a new CCTV registry system designed to help investigators identify and request footage more quickly following an incident.

The system allows people to voluntarily register the location of CCTV, doorbell or private camera systems so that, if something happens nearby, officers can contact them and ask if they’ve captured anything useful.

Importantly, the system does not give the police access to live footage or control of privately owned cameras. It simply helps us understand where cameras may be located and provides a quicker way for footage to be shared when needed.

The technology has been developed through Axon, the company behind our Body Worn Video and Evidence.com platform. It forms part of our wider work to improve how digital evidence is gathered and managed across the force. Similar systems are already being used by a number of UK police forces including West Midlands Police, Cumbria, Kent and Essex Police.

It also supports our wider digital strategy and our commitment within the Policing Plan to deliver an outstanding local service that cares by improving how we identify, collect and manage evidence to support investigations and victims.

Before we launch this publicly, we want to test the system internally first.

That means we’re asking colleagues who live in Staffordshire and have CCTV, doorbell cameras or other home security systems to consider registering them over the next few weeks.

This will help us test the process, understand demand, identify any issues and shape how we launch the system more widely this summer.

Nothing on the register will indicate your link to Staffs police and your address will not be plotted on a publicly visible map.

The system will not replace existing investigative work or the need for officers to speak to victims and witnesses, but it gives us another tool to help gather footage more quickly and support investigations.

Man given three-year prison sentence following manslaughter guilty plea

A man has been sentenced to three-years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in relation to an incident in Newmarket last year.

Officers were called at 3.40pm on Saturday 8 March 2025, to reports of an altercation involving four people in High Street.

Two men sustained injuries as a result of the incident and were taken to hospital.

One of the injured parties, aged 45, was discharged later in the evening on 8 March.

Richard Wingrove, 71, of Newmarket, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a critical condition, where he sadly died on Tuesday 18 March.

Levi Williams, 26, from Trefonen, Shropshire, but previously of Holland Park, Newmarket, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He was initially bailed before later being rearrested and charged with murder.

On Friday 10 April, at Peterborough Crown Court, Williams pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He was sentenced at the same court today, Thursday 4 June.

Prior to the incident both Williams and Richard Wingrove had separately been drinking in the town. While outside a public house from which Richard had been ejected, a verbal altercation took place between the pair, after which a physical fight broke out. Williams had already hit the victim to the floor once before their altercation continued, with Williams delivering a further punch to the head. This caused Richard to fall to the floor, hitting his head on the pavement.

As well as the consumption of alcohol during the day, Williams tested positive for cocaine while at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

Detective Constable Hannah Barrett said: “Richard Wingrove, a man who was celebrating his birthday, has lost his life in a completely avoidable act of violence, causing devastation for so many people.

“Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. We continue to see similar cases across the county and region, where alcohol and drugs play a role in violent behaviour with tragic consequences. It took one punch to take a life — and seconds to destroy countless others.

“Williams had a simple choice: to walk away or to escalate the situation. He chose to use violence. He now has a criminal record for an extremely serious offence and will spend time in prison. However, no sentence can undo the fact that a life has been lost.

“The impact of this is widespread and lasting. Richard Wingrove’s family and friends are grieving the unimaginable loss of a father, son, grandfather and great grandfather while Williams’ own loved ones must also come to terms with what his actions have caused.

“We will continue to highlight cases like this to demonstrate just how devastating a single moment of violence can be. Let this be the warning: stop, think, and walk away. If it prevents even one family from experiencing such a loss, then it matters.

“As we enter the summer months, more people will be socialising and, in some cases, consuming more alcohol than usual. It is often in these moments that minor disagreements can quickly spiral, with patience wearing thin.

“There is no excuse or defence for this kind of violence. The message is clear: if a situation becomes heated, de-escalate it or remove yourself. You may think that one punch is insignificant, but this case proves otherwise. Lives can be ruined in seconds - one punch can kill.”

Two further people have been charged with offences relating to the incident on 8 March 2025. Matthew Wilson, 24, of Bury Road, Newmarket, and Jamie Wingrove, 46, of Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, have been charged with affray and are due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on 7 July.

High street police station plans move step closer

Plans for a new Police Station on Worksop’s high street could soon be a reality.

It follows long-running discussions between Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Gary Godden, Nottinghamshire Police and Bassetlaw District Council to secure a front counter service in the heart of the community and enhance the town's visible policing presence.

Bassetlaw District Council’s Cabinet agreed in principle this week to transfer ownership of the town centre property at 73 Bridge Street to the PCC, who is responsible for Nottinghamshire Police's estate.

The decision will now be considered by the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee as part of a confidential report on Tuesday 16 June.

Gary Godden, Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire, said: “I'm delighted that we have moved a step closer to securing a dedicated police station in such a prominent town centre location in Worksop.

"Following continued engagement with the community since I came into the role, I have had a long-held ambition to enhance the police's presence and accessibility in the Bassetlaw district, and this marks a major step toward making this a reality.

"I'd like to thank Bassetlaw MP Jo White and Bassetlaw District Council for working closely with me on this and helping me ensure we meet the needs of local people so we can strengthen trust, confidence and partnership working with the community."

This proposal is designed to enhance the Police provision across Bassetlaw and add to the facilities that are already in place in Harworth and Bircotes and Retford.

The decision was welcomed by the Leader of Bassetlaw District Council, Cllr Julie Leigh, who said: “We have been working with the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner as well as Bassetlaw-based Officers for some months now to enable the Police to pursue a new base that enhances the way they provide policing in our district and town.

“Subject to the decision of our Overview and Scrutiny Committee, I’m pleased that further discussions will be able to take place so that our shared ambition of enhanced policing can be realised while also contributing to wider ambitions for our town centre and improving safety.”

Should the decision be endorsed, Nottinghamshire Police will move from their current base in Queen’s Buildings and have full responsibility for the facilities that are provided at the new station.

Jo White, Member of Parliament for Bassetlaw, said: “I have been fighting for a more visible police presence in Worksop town centre because our town centres must be safe for shoppers, visitors and local businesses.

“I am delighted that the Police and Crime Commissioner has listened, and is working with Bassetlaw District Council to open a new police station on Bridge Street. This is a welcome addition to the police presence in Bassetlaw.”

Number 73 Bridge Street is currently used as a base for the Council’s Market provision in addition to public toilets. Alternative locations to accommodate these facilities are also being explored alongside this report.

At 4.52pm on Monday 1 June at the NET Tram Stop, Ashgate Road, Hucknall, a male was on the platform shouting abuse at females. A man approached him to challenge his behaviour and had beer thrown in his face and a mobile phone thrown at him. The offender was described as white, 50’s, bald head, wearing a Nottingham University shirt and a light blue top. He was drinking alcohol.

Between Friday 22 May and Monday 1 June in Ruffs Drive, Hucknall, a hole was made in a bedroom window which appeared to have been caused by a shot from a BB gun.

At 10.45pm in Hankin Street, Hucknall, a the back of a silver Ford Kuga, parked at the roadside, was kicked by some children scratching the paintwork at the back.

They were around 13/15 years old, one wearing a black helmet and on a black moped, a second on an electric scooter, the third on foot.

At 6.46pm on Sunday 31 May in Titchfield Park, Hucknall, a report of a grey Yamaha motorbike with Swiss registration plates racing around the park near the top car park. The driver wearing a black helmet and hoodie the passenger had a grey hoodie, shorts no helmet.. Both white males in their mid teens.

At 11.30pm on Monday 1 June in George Street, Hucknall, a report of someone knocking heavily on an elderly persons door.

At 7.18pm on Tuesday 2 June in Bestwood Road, Hucknall, a report of youths throwing rocks at other children and at the callers house near the recreation ground. Described as 10/11 year old white males, one 4-00” tall, blonde hair, grey sweatshirt, brown tan boots. The second also 4-00”, brown hair, blue t-shirt, green/olive trousers, tan boots.

Suspicious male in the area

On Tuesday 2nd June, there was a suspicious male in the area of Meerbrook, close to the Lazy Trout, approaching properties asking about motorhomes, and insistent on wanting to buy them, even though the homes were not up for sale. He had an Irish accent and was a white male, driving a black Range Rover.

Later that day/evening, a vehicle in the village had their number plates stolen, and although at this time we cannot say it is linked , we are asking whether people have been approached by this male and have any CCTV of him.

At 1.56am on Sunday 31 May in Gladstone Street, Kirkby in Ashfield, a house was entered via the back door, lights turned on and a sofa was damaged.

At 12.15pm on Wednesday 3 June, in Sorrel Drive, Kirkby in Ashfield, two white males, mid 30’s, 5-10”/5-11”, medium build, one in a dark blue jumper, jeans type shorts, the second in a light blue coat and dark blue shorts, drilled the lock out on a patio door. No entry was gained.

At 11.30am on Monday 1 June in Sorrel Drive, Kirkby in Ashfield, two white males, around 30 years old, arrived in a van with ‘Buildrow’ on the side. They got out and drilled out the locks on the garage door. Nothing was stolen.

Between 2.05pm and 2.15pm on Saturday 30 May in Thorneywood Avenue, Kirkby in Ashfield, an orange and white KTM 125 SMCR motorbike was stolen by two males who arrived on a black moped. Both white, early 20’s, one wearing grey shorts, the second wearing grey joggers. They left towards Skegby Road.

Illicit cigarettes, tobacco and vapes seized during multi-agency operation in Ringwood and Totton

Another successful joint-partnership operation has again resulted in the seizure of illicit cigarettes, tobacco and vapes from stores in the New Forest.

This time, shops in Ringwood and Totton were the focus of the day of action against businesses selling suspected illegal items.

Last Wednesday (27 May), officers from Modern Slavery & Organised Immigration Crime (MSOIC), Totton Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and Totton NPT joined forces with Trading Standards (Hampshire County Council), who led the operation.

Following information received from our communities, they visited shops in the towns to carry out enforcement.

At the Ringwood store, three packets of tobacco, 11 pouches of non-compliant nicotine and approximately 30 items of food and drink, with non-compliant labelling issues, were all seized.

An associated vehicle, suspected of being linked to the shop, was also searched and found to contain 142 packets of cigarettes (2,840 cigarette sticks) and 11 pouches (50g) of hand-rolled tobacco. These items were also seized.

At the Totton store, 216 packets of cigarettes (4,320 cigarette sticks), 46 pouches (50g) of hand-rolled tobacco, 156 illicit vapes and 50 food and drink items were all seized.

The total high street value of the seized items, had they been sold, would have been £3,326.

The total high street value of the equivalent compliant cigarettes and hand-rolled tobacco would have been £8,529.

Speaking after the operation, PC Antony Waghorn, of MSOIC, said: “Following hot on the heels of a similar operation In New Milton earlier this month, we have joined forces to once more demonstrate our continued commitment to protecting our communities from illegal and harmful activity.

This joined-up approach is essential in us removing illegal items from the shelves, including cigarettes, tobacco and vapes, and ensuring the safety and welfare of the workers in these stores.

“The type of criminality we’ve been targeting is exploitative. It takes advantage of people, harms local residents, and undermines legitimate businesses, those who are obeying the law in order to make a legal profit.

“We will continue to work together with Trading Standards and other partners to identify those higher up the chain, those who profit from these offences, and ensure they are held to account.

“As we always say, there’s consequences to actions and we will continue enforce these.

“Finally, huge thanks must again go to members of the community, including local shoppers and workers, for their information and support with this type of operation.”

Swift response in relation to a report of stalking

Your neighbourhood policing team responded promptly this week after receiving a report that a resident was being shouted at and harassed outside their home by a male known to them. The suspect fled before officers arrived, but thanks to proactive patrol work and local knowledge, officers quickly located him walking nearby.

Between 3.12pm and 3.27pm on Tuesday 2 June at the Depot Entrance , Station Road, Sutton in Ashfield, a Greenmech Global Chipper was stolen. Normally orange in colour this one was green and black. It was seen being pulled by a black Renault Espace or Scenic people carrier. It was latter tracked and recovered.

Theft from motor vehicle

Around 3.00am on Tuesday 2 June at Brierley Cottages, Sutton in Ashfield, a grey Toyota Prius car was broken into and searched.

Theft

Between 10.00am and 10.10am on Friday 29 May in Stuart Street, Sutton in Ashfield, a grey Claud Butler Electric bike laying on the ground in ‘Lemmo’ park was stolen by a white male dressed all in black and wearing a balaclava. He picked it up and rode off leaving the park and heading towards the shops.

Between 9.00am and 12.00am on Tuesday 2 June at the Leamington Hall Flats, Stuart Street, Sutton in Ashfield, a garden sunbed was stolen from the communal area.

Criminal Damage

Between 7.19pm on Monday 25 and 7.19pm on Sunday 31 May at the Sutton Centre, Sutton Community Academy, High Pavement, Sutton in Ashfield, a report of fencing being damaged to gain forced entry to the grounds, football goal netting and the playing surface being damaged and glass bottles being smashed all over the area.

ASB

At 10.22 on Friday 29 May at Beechwood Court, Beechwood Close, Sutton in Ashfield, a male was in the courtyard drinking and smoking cannabis. He was arguing with and abusing everyone as they walked by.

At 3.09pm on Sunday 31 May in Charnwood Street, Sutton in Ashfield, a report of a petrol powered go-cart and two motorbikes being ridden by teenagers and adults on the recreation ground. There is an ongoing issue with motorised bikes etc. being ridden on the park.

At 11.42pm on Sunday 31 May at Castlewood Service Station, Farmwell Lane, Sutton in Ashfield, a report of a gathering of over 30 ‘Boy Racer’ vehicles, being anti-social and blocking access to the pumps.

At 3.30pm on Tuesday 2 June in Lammas Road, Sutton in Ashfield, a white male, 5-10”, stocky build, wearing a blue top and shorts, black hoodie with a Nottingham Forest tattoo on his right lower leg, was abusing people walking by outside the Leisure Centre.

Safety incident between an aircraft and a drone

We are appealing for information after the crew of an RAF Prefect aircraft sighted a drone flying at dangerously high levels, near Wispington, Horncastle.

The drone was being flown at 9000 feet, for safety reasons the maximum legal height limit a drone can be flown at is 400 feet.

The incident happened around 3pm on Tuesday 26 May in the airspace above the Wispington area.

Kev Taylor, Chief Drone Pilot and Flight Safety Manager for Lincolnshire Police, said: “We know the majority of drone pilots fly legally and safely and although it’s unusual to see drones at this height, we have sadly seen this before. Lincolnshire Airspace is very busy with the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain, Air Ambulance and many military and civil crewed aircraft flying daily alongside many drone flights. It goes without saying the safety of all air users is paramount.”

Theft of vehicle, Lyneham

Time: Approximately 2:00 AM
Location: High Street, Lyneham

At approximately 2:00 AM this morning, a black Ford Transit was stolen from the High Street in Lyneham. The vehicle was stolen without keys and no signs of damage were left behind, no broken glass etc.

At approximately 2:00am at another address, CCTV captures the vehicle driving off.

Police are requesting residents to check their CCTV for that time frame or if anyone has any further information, please contact police on 101 and quote reference number 43260278318

Vehicle Security:

· Park your car in a garage if available, or under motion-sensor lighting.

· Use a steering wheel lock, even if you have keyless entry. A visual deterrent can deter thieves.

· Consider fitting a tracking device or immobiliser to your vehicle. The immobiliser will prevent the vehicle from starting even if the thief has the genuine key. Once inside the vehicle, the driver must enter a unique secret button sequence using existing controls within the car, such as steering wheel or dashboard buttons. Without the correct code being entered, the engine remains immobilised.

· If you have a keyless entry vehicle, store your key fob in a Faraday pouch to block relay signals.

· Never leave documents or valuables inside the vehicle.

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti-social behaviour - general, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

📢 Community Safety Update – The Vineries, Gillingham

We are aware of an increase in reports in the Vineries area relating to anti-social behaviour (ASB), nuisance/off-road bikes, and other criminal activity. These incidents have understandably led to increased concern and tension within the local community.
On 22nd May 2026, a community meeting was held, chaired by the local MP and attended by local Kent Police officers, Medway Council representatives, housing partners, and residents. This meeting focused on addressing the issues being experienced and agreeing a coordinated response.
As a result, there will be a joint effort between all agencies to tackle these concerns.
During May, officers have:
✅ Recovered 2 stolen mopeds in the area
✅ Engaged with youths congregating locally
✅ Increased patrols and visibility
This work will continue throughout the summer, with Medway Community Safety Unit officers proactively patrolling the area and taking action where appropriate.

We are from Derbyshire Police’s Community Speedwatch, a scheme that enables groups of trained community volunteers to directly contribute to reducing the problem of speeding vehicles on local roads. Your community has an active scheme working in your area but are now looking to attract more volunteers. Can you help?

How does it work?

Groups of trained volunteers carry out high visibility speed checks at approved locations

Details of speeding vehicles are then forwarded to the CSW Team who verify the details and enter them onto a central database

The registered owner is then sent an advisory/warning letter notifying them that they have been recorded speeding and that their details will be held pending any further incidents of them exceeding the speed limit

This can include a personal visit by a Police Officer to deliver the letter dependent upon the circumstances.

Benefits

Deters incidence of speeding at the location and immediate area at the time of sessions taking place

Enables advisory/warning letters to be sent to those recorded as speeding

Provides direct evidence of a speeding problem that can be utilised by police enforcement and other agencies

Provides an opportunity for local communities to take a direct and positive stand against speeding

Due to it being volunteer lead, the scheme provides the clearest sign that the community is no longer willing to tolerate speeding

Directly contributes towards speeding becoming socially unacceptable

Residential burglary, Shipton Under Wychwood

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY & VEHICLE THEFT

Incident Date: Wednesday 4th June
Time: Approximately 1:30 AM
Location: Sinnels Field, Shipton Under Wychwood

At approximately 1:30 AM this morning, a burglary occurred at a residential property. Unknown offenders gained entry into the victim's home via the patio doors, specifically targeting vehicle keys. The offenders subsequently stole the victim’s vehicle from the driveway. A grey Audi SQ5.

At approximately 1:20am at another address in Sinnels Field, CCTV captures masked men with torches appeared to be interested in another high performance vehicle, however, it's possible the Smart CCTV deterred them.

Police are requesting residents to check their CCTV for that time frame or if anyone has any further information, please contact police on 101 and quote reference number 43260278334

To reduce the risk of burglary and vehicle theft, we strongly encourage all residents to review and implement the following security measures:

At Home:

· Double-lock front and back doors (if your lock allows) and ensure window locks are engaged.

· Consider installing a home alarm system and ensure it’s set overnight.

· Use doorbell cameras or CCTV systems to monitor activity outside your home, including the rear of your property.

· Keep car keys and valuables out of sight and away from entry points (avoid leaving them near the front door or windows).

· Consider installing a letterbox cage or restrictor to prevent fishing for keys.

· Use timer switches on lights to make your home look occupied.

Vehicle Security:

We have had a number of officers in the Willenhall area of Walsall this afternoon following reports of a man acting suspiciously.

We have been speaking to the local community and as a precaution we advised schools in the area to keep children while the area was searched.

Our officers have carried out a thorough search of the area, but have been unable to find the man.

As a result, we have now advised schools that it was no longer necessary to keep children on site.

We are aware of a number of social media posts, and would ask the public not to call us if they have seen the same posts.

We will have a visible presence in the area into this evening, and enquiries to identify the man continue.

Monthly Newsletter for Barrow, Pendleton and Wiswell, May 2026

Last month we held out first Police drop-in at the Village Hall where we had a few visitors bringing concerns and wanting to put faces to names. These drop ins will be held every six weeks, the next being 17th June and we would encourage anybody just to call in, anytime between 6.30 and 7.30pm.

We received a total of 57 logs, compared with 38 from the previous month. Only 5 of these were actual crimes.

Wiswell residents have obviously been behaving as there were absolutely no reports either from them or about them!

Pendleton had one report of suspicious circumstances which turned out to be a group of youths that had built a den and lit a fire.

By contrast, Barrow had a busy month! The 5 crimes included domestic issues and one vehicle interference.

Anti-social behaviour accounted for 14 logs; 5 of these were reports of youths banging and/or kicking doors on the Barrow Brook estate. It seemed to happen over a couple of days and has thankfully stopped, but there are some elderly residents in the area who really don’t need this kind of behaviour!

The other 9 logs were all road related. One report of anti-social driving, swerving and taking unnecessary risks, the driver was dealt with by way of a section 59 warning, which means if seen driving like this again, we can confiscate his car. There was one report of drink driving but when stopped, the driver tested positive for drugs; and the other 7 logs all related to the anti-social behaviour of drivers on the KFC/Subway car park. We are actively targeting this area of a nighttime and hope to see favourable results.

Suspicious circumstance reports accounted for 4 logs. These included another possible vehicle interference, a suspected drug deal, a damaged vehicle left in an alleyway and a concern for some youths playing around on a bridge.

During the month, we were out and about around Aspen/Chestnut Cres areas where the vehicle interference had been happening. You have hopefully seen the update that the offender was arrested within 24 hrs. He currently has a community behaviour order which restricts where he is allowed to go. This was extended from Whalley to now include Barrow.

Our next drop in at Booths, Clitheroe is this evening at 5pm in the café, and at Barrow Village Hall on 17th June.

Humberside Police are investigating a report of a burglary 36a-39 High Street Hull.

The incident occurred between 18:41 -18:51 on 31/05/26 and The offender(s) approached a gated complex, gained access by unknown means and then was able to access a communal kitchen and stole items.

As hot weather hits London, many people, especially children will head to nearby lakes and rivers to stay cool. We want to remind everyone to stay safe, and know the dangers including:

Strong currents

Submerged objects

Vegetation

Depth

Uneven surfaces

Cold water shock

Cold water shock can be triggered jumping into water, even on hot days. It can make you gasp uncontrollably and even the strongest swimmers can get into trouble very quickly.

Stop and step back

People end up in trouble due to things like peer pressure, poor hazard awareness, showing off, swimming ability, alcohol and drugs. Stop and think about consequences, protect yourself and your friends.

Know what to do

Stop and think – do not enter the water if concerned it might be dangerous

Call for help – 999 in an emergency

Tell the casualty to float on their back

Keep the casualty in your view and throw them something that floats

If you do end up in the water, keep calm and think FLOAT. In an emergency always call 999.

Two Burglars Back to Prison

Today, Beat Officers have located and arrested two males that were both respectively wanted for their recalls to Prison.

Both males, recently convicted individually, but both in relation to Burglary offences within the Ashford District, had been released from Prison on Licence and with conditions.

Probation Service have since revoked their Licences due to either poor behaviour and/or failing to attend supervision meetings.

Within 24 hours of each of their Licences being revoked and Kent Police having been informed, we have located them both at their home address', arrested them and returned them to Custody where they will now be collected and taken back to Prison.

Tackling rural crime is a priority for Kent Police, so working with Probation Services to disrupt those that cause the greatest harm to the community is one of the most effective ways in doing that! Police are investigating a number of recent burglaries in your area. These offences typically take place in the evening (8pm–11pm) when homes are unoccupied.

Offenders are entering through the rear of properties (doors or windows)
Some are climbing to first-floor windows, especially via flat roofs
Homes are searched quickly, mainly upstairs bedrooms

While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you:

Double lock your door every time you leave the house
If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access.
Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows.
Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through.
If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house.
Make sure all valuables are out of sight.
Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps.
In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on.
Set your burglar alarm
Lock your shed or garage
Mark, register or record your valuables.

Darren Tees, 50, of Exeter appeared at Truro Magistrates court on 28th May 2026 where he pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle over the prescribed limit of alcohol on St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly on 24th January 2026. He was disqualified from driving for 18 months and issued with costs and fines totalling £1054.

Isles of Scilly Police regularly patrol roads and will stop and test those suspected of impaired driving. Please don’t drink and drive.

Organised by PC Peel from Berrylands SNT, on Thurs 4th June Kingston Police officers along with Immigration conducted over 20 stops on VICTORIA ROAD, SURBITON on mopeds/delivery drivers leading to an arrest for an immigration offence and multiple traffic offence reports for road traffic offences.

Witness appeal following serious injury collision in Poole

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a serious injury collision in Poole.

At around 4.50pm on Tuesday 2 June 2026 a collision occurred involving two bicycles in Grebe Close near to the footpath that joins with Martin Close.

The rider of one of the bikes – a man aged in his 40s – is receiving treatment in hospital for serious injuries.

It is reported that the rider of the second bike – a suspected electric bike – did not stop at the scene. He is described as white, possibly aged in his early 20s with light brown medium-length hair and a beard.

Police Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened or has information about the rider of the bike that left the scene to please get in touch.

“I am also keen to hear from residents in the vicinity who may have captured anything of relevance on home CCTV or doorbell camera footage, including anything that shows the rider of a bike matching the description given.”

Male sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment for outraging public decency

A male who had been causing issues in both Kingswinford and Wall Heath where he was reported to be urinating in public view and exposing himself has been sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment for outraging public decency.

Gary Yates of no fixed abode was sentenced on 29th May 2026 by Wolverhampton Magistrates court.

We would like to thank the public for their help in identifying the male.

Lock your bike up in a safe place using primarily a D-lock
