Recent theft of vehicle

Dear residents,

I am sure you are all aware of the recent theft of a vehicle in Castle Park. Officers have conducted house to house enquiries and in doing so have registered a number of you on Neighbourhood alerts.

Unfortunately, we have had a number of reports of opportunist criminals who are trying car doors in the hope they are open and then using a Transmitter to start the car (which is only possible with key-less vehicles), some vehicles are being opened by this transmitter too.

I have provided your neighbourhood watch lead with a limited number of Faraday Pouches to hand out to residents with key-less vehicles. Keep your key's in the pouch overnight as this will protect the transmission. Make sure you keep your vehicles locked overnight and all valuable items out of view.

Vehicle seized in Stourport - While on patrol on the Walshes Estate this afternoon, Stourport Safer Neighbourhood Team spotted a suspicious vehicle. Following quick checks it was confirmed the vehicle had no tax and no insurance. The vehicle was promptly located and seized.

Residential Burglary – Keepers Lane, Codsall

Staffordshire Police have received a report of a burglary at a residential property on Keepers Lane, Codsall. Unknown offender(s) gained entry by smashing a window and subsequently stole a number of tradesperson's tools from within the property.

At this stage, the incident appears to be an opportunistic burglary. We would therefore encourage residents to remain vigilant over the coming days and report any suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles in the area, especially during the night time hours.

Local Drug dealing / Drug use Arrest Update

Local Priorities Road Safety Issues Update

Today, Wednesday 22nd July 2026, your Ledbury Safer Neighbourhood Team conducted speed enforcement in the village of Bishops Frome. This was following a walk around of the area with the local parish councillor, who raised speeding as their main concern for their local residents.

It was a great opportunity to engage with motorists as well as local residents alike and have positive conversations around road safety. On the whole, motorists adhered to the 30mph limit but there was a top speed recorded of 40mph, which was dealt with at the road side.

I have said it before and I will say it again - we can't be everywhere at once, but we can be anyway!

We are appealing for information after cash and bank cards were stolen from a car in Dallington Road, NN5 7BQ.

The theft occurred between 4.30am and 4.40am on 21st July when the items were stolen from the vehicle whilst it was parked on Dallington Road.

We would like to make residents aware of reports of rogue traders operating within the local area.

Rogue traders often target vulnerable residents, particularly elderly people or those living alone, offering services such as roofing work, driveway repairs, gardening, gutter cleaning, or other property maintenance. They may claim that urgent work is required, use high-pressure sales tactics, or demand excessive payment for poor-quality or unnecessary work.

While many tradespeople are legitimate and provide valuable services, we encourage residents to remain cautious when approached by unsolicited callers offering work.

Crime Prevention Advice:

Be wary of anyone who arrives uninvited offering to carry out repairs or maintenance.
Do not agree to work on the spot or feel pressured into making immediate decisions.
Obtain at least three quotes from reputable companies before committing to any work.
Ask for identification and check credentials where possible.
Never hand over large amounts of cash or make payments before agreed work has been completed satisfactorily.
Speak with family members, friends, or trusted neighbours before agreeing to significant work or expenditure.
Consider displaying a "No Cold Callers" sticker at your property.
Look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may be at greater risk of becoming victims.

Warning signs can include traders claiming work is urgently needed, offering a "special price today only", requesting cash payments, or becoming aggressive when challenged.

We have had a report of a “Nottingham Knocker” in the Lea area.

What are Nottingham Knockers?
Nottingham Knockers are typically young individuals who travel in teams, often originating from the Nottingham area, carrying large holdall bags filled with household items such as cleaning products, small clothing items, and kitchenware, which they sell at inflated prices. They often claim to be ex-convicts on rehabilitation schemes and may show fake ID cards to appear legitimate, though these cards have no legal validity.

Nottingham Knockers are not just salespeople; they are often linked to criminal activity. They may observe homes for vulnerabilities, noting details to sell to professional burglars. There are documented cases where households that purchased from them experienced burglaries shortly afterward. Some have even become violent, forcing entry to obtain money. Teams often maintain lists rating homes based on perceived success, indicating a systematic approach to targeting victims.

Safety Advice:

Use caution when approached by door-to-door sellers. Residents should verify identities through a spyhole or side window, ask for official identification, and avoid opening the door to unknown individuals. It is advised not to engage with them or make purchases, especially in cash, to reduce the risk of exploitation or burglary.

You Said, We Did: Action taken on drug dealing in Wisbech

We've heard from members of the community that drug dealing and associated anti-social behaviour are concerns in parts of Wisbech.

Yesterday, neighbourhood officers carried out a day of targeted activity, using a combination of high-visibility patrols, plain clothes officers and bicycle patrols to disrupt criminality and help keep the town safe.

As a result of this activity, officers:

Conducted multiple stop searches

Seized drugs and two knuckledusters

Arrested one person

Dealt with a further individual through an out-of-court disposal

Tackling drug supply, use and associated anti-social behaviour remains a priority for the local neighbourhood policing team. We will continue to carry out proactive patrols and act on information provided by residents.

LONG RISTON: E-Scooters notice

E-Scooters Warning notice

Please be aware you can legally buy E-Scooters in the UK but however it is currently against the law to ride an e-scooter on a public road, public area, cycle lane or pavement. You are allowed to ride an e-scooter on private land where the public doesn't have access to and if you want to ride the e-scooter there you must have the landlords permission.

Riding of E-scooters and E-bikes are forbidden in and around the playing field and outdoor sports facilities managed by the Long Riston Playing Field Committee. - Please leave your e-scooter or e-bike at home.

Rental e-scooters part of the government-approved schemes are legal in designated areas.

Reasons for this are e-scooters are legally classed as a motor vehicle and therefore are required to have Tax, Insurance, MOT and a valid driving licence. You should also have features such as signal lights and visible rear lights. As most e-scooters do not have these features they can not be legally used on UK roads.

Should you be stopped by the police, they may seize the scooter which you won't be able to get back and in some cases you will be prosecuted to which you will receive a fine and points on your licence.

Over the past few weeks these issues have been raised during Humbertalking and at Parish Council meetings as safety concerns along with e-scooters riders who seem to be unaware of these rules.

Here’s a quick update on anti-social behaviour locally. We know it can be distressing, but we’re working closely with partners to make the area safer and support residents.

This evening, your local SNT officers conducted foot patrols around the Becton Place estate. We paid particular attention to the pram sheds that sit underneath the residential blocks- this is due to the housing association Orbit informing us of reports of rough sleeping within the pram sheds.

We understand residents deserve secure- locked up pram sheds that keep their belongings safe, and also dont want rough sleepers in them, this can be particularly intimidating for Women and Girls and children.

We have fed back to the housing association the fact that these pram sheds are insecure and being left open- and to consider implementing new padlocks.

We will always fight your corner when it comes to feeling safe within your estate, and put the necessary pressure on our partner agencies to do their bit.

During routine foot patrols today, one of the local Town Centre Officers spotted a 49 year old female known to the Police on the Tesco car park in the Town Centre.

It was believed that the female was at that time Wanted by the Police for an Offence, so the Officer stopped her. On checking the Police National Computer, it was discovered that the female was actually Wanted for 2 x Shoplifting Offences and 2 x Breach of Court Order.

She was arrested and searched prior to being put into the Police Van as is standard when two packets of White powder were found on her person, so she was then also Arrested for Possession of a Class A Substance.

Not a good and for the day for one of us!

Advice following livestock thefts across Devon and Cornwall

Following a spate of reported livestock thefts across Devon and Cornwall, we are appealing to our farming communities to be extra vigilant and to report any suspicious activity.

Theft of livestock can have a significant financial and emotional impact on farming families and rural businesses.

Investigations into recent livestock thefts remain ongoing.

In the meantime, if you have any information, dashcam footage, CCTV, or have noticed suspicious activity involving livestock, trailers or vehicles in rural areas, please contact Devon & Cornwall Police on 101 or via the force website.

While offenders are responsible for these crimes, there are practical measures that can help strengthen security and assist in identifying and recovering stolen animals.

If you’re able to, please consider reviewing your security arrangements by:

Ensuring all sheep are correctly EID tagged and records are up to date

Using additional visible identification, such as unique spray markings or flock-specific management tags

Photographing valuable breeding stock and keeping records of any distinctive features

Regularly checking and maintaining fences, gates and boundary security

Using robust locks, security chains and anti-lift hinges where appropriate

Restricting vehicle access to fields, particularly those located close to public roads

Monitoring livestock regularly and varying visit times where possible

Keeping accurate flock counts and promptly reporting any discrepancies

Securing handling equipment, raceways, loading ramps and holding pens when not in use

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Shoplifting, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

You may have noticed some big blue police vans about Deptford recently. They're TSG; the Territorial Support Group, and they've been focussing on Deptford for a few days.
Today they found two individuals hiding near the High Street with a bag full of goods taken from the Sainsbury's on Deptford High Street. Our local officers went to assist with the address and these people will be issued Community Protection Warnings and kept very close on our radar.
Even seemingly small incidents and arrest like this can start a chain reaction that affects the whole of the High Street beneficially.

Shoplifting is a crime that can have a substantial negative impact on local businesses across London. If you notice anything suspicious or witness anyone shoplifting, please report it as soon as possible. These reports are invaluable in letting us build a picture of when and where shop lifters operate, meaning we can be in the right place at the right time to arrest those responsible.

Mature drivers course back due to popular demand

Older drivers are among the most at-risk road users in West Mercia, with 22 fatalities and 79 serious injuries in collisions involving drivers aged 65+ in 2025.

Determined to get these figures down, the PCC has provided £15,000 to help subsidise a popular road safety course for a second year in a row.

The course is specifically designed for more mature drivers, providing them with the support and advice they need to understand what they’re doing well and what they can adjust to keep themselves and others safe.

The funding will enable a £55 discount for each participant, so that around 380 people can sign up for just £30 instead of the usual £85.

Rural crime has no set definition but can be very broadly classified as any crime and anti-social behaviour occurring in rural areas. It is often linked to Organised Crime Groups (OCGs) who target and exploit rural communities across a range of crime types, for example organised plant theft, livestock theft, burglaries targeting firearms, poaching and hare coursing.

The NPCC (National Police Chiefs Council) has developed a Rural Affairs Strategy which sets out police priorities in this area:

Farm machinery, plant and vehicle theft - including quad bikes, modern and vintage tractors, tools and equipment from outbuildings.
Livestock offences - including theft, worrying and attacks.
Fuel theft - including heating oil, diesel and petrol.
Equine crime - including horse trailer and horse box theft, horse theft, tack theft, fly grazing and neglect.
Fly tipping - including household and commercial waste, waste through organised criminality.
Poaching which crosses over with the wildlife priorities - including hare coursing, deer poaching, fish poaching.
Heritage crime - It is also important to recognise that rural crime and antisocial behaviour have an adverse impact on the historic environment and heritage assets found across the United Kingdom - including the theft of metal from church buildings, unlawful metal detecting and interference with historic shipwrecks.

Appeal following multiple vehicle interference incidents in Waterford

Officers are appealing for witnesses and information following a series of vehicle interference incidents in Waterford.

The incidents occurred on Goldings Lane, Woodland Grove, High Road and Waterford Common between Saturday 18 July and Monday 20 July.

At around 2.40am on Monday 20 July, a laptop and laptop bag containing personal items were reported stolen from a white Polestar 2 parked on Waterford Common.

Between 3pm on Sunday 19 July and 6.50am on Monday 20 July, a grey Kia Niro parked on High Road was targeted. A pair of Apple AirPods, another pair of earphones and a quantity of cash were reported stolen.

On Woodland Grove, between 3.15am and 3.20am on Monday 20 July, an offender gained access to a Volkswagen Golf and carried out an untidy search of the vehicle. It is not believed that anything was taken.

A further incident occurred on Goldings Lane between 8am on Saturday 18 July and 10am on Sunday 20 July, when a pair of sunglasses, a quantity of cash and a book were stolen from a white Citroen C3.

PC Alexander Swales from the East Herts Response Policing Team, said: "We are investigating these incidents and are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or who may have CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or other footage that could assist our enquiries.”

PCSOs are holding an engagement in the Village Hall car park at 10.30am on Saturday 1 August, to chat to residents and the local community, to offer crime prevention advice following this series of incidents.

Appeal following assault in Bishop’s Stortford

Officers are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault which happened in Bishop’s Stortford.

The incident occurred on Apton Road, shortly before 10pm on Saturday 11 July.

A verbal altercation took place between the victim and a group of 4-6 young people who had been pushing a wheely bin. One of the group then punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground where he lost consciousness for a short time.

The victim suffered facial injuries and is now recovering.

PC Kelly Newton, from the Bishop’s Stortford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We are investigating this incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or who may have CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or other footage that could assist our enquiries.”

'Nottingham Knockers'

We have recently received a small number of reports regarding individuals commonly referred to as "Nottingham Knockers" operating within the area.

These individuals typically go door-to-door selling household items such as cleaning products, often claiming to be taking part in rehabilitation programmes or attempting to support themselves following previous involvement in the criminal justice system. While not everyone selling door-to-door is acting unlawfully, residents should be aware that this activity can sometimes cause concern within communities and, on occasions, may be linked to distraction burglary or doorstep crime.

We would encourage residents to remain vigilant and consider the following crime prevention advice:

Always ask to see identification and take time to verify who is at your door.

Do not feel pressured into making purchases or handing over money.

Keep your front door locked while speaking to unexpected callers and use a door chain if you have one fitted.

Avoid inviting unknown callers into your home.

Look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may be more susceptible to doorstep sales tactics.

If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts and politely close the conversation.

If you witness any suspicious behaviour, feel intimidated, or believe a crime may be taking place, please report it to us via 101 or online through the police website. In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, always call 999.

Consultation on Proposed Renewal of Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs)

Islington Council is seeking views on proposals to renew and vary its borough-wide Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) relating to dog control and alcohol-related anti-social behaviour. The current Orders expire on 31 October 2026 and, subject to consultation and formal approval, the Council is proposing to renew them until 31 October 2029.

The proposals include:

Renewal of the alcohol-related anti-social behaviour PSPO;

Renewal and variation of the dog control PSPO;

Clarification of requirements relating to dog fouling and carrying suitable means to remove dog waste;

The alcohol-related PSPO does not prohibit responsible public drinking. It enables authorised officers to require a person to stop drinking or surrender alcohol where necessary to prevent public nuisance or disorder.

The consultation is open from 20 July 2026 until 31 August 2026 and we would welcome your views on the proposals. EXECUTION OF DRUGS WARRANT ON A BUSINESS PREMISES

On 20/07/26 officers were successful in obtaining an emergency warrant for a business warrant which was executed on 21/07/26.

Officers have discovered over 100 plants and these have been recovered.

SECTION 59 POWERS HAVE CHANGED

#ProblemSolvingPolicing | Section 59 powers have changed and we want the community to know exactly what that means.

Officers and PCSO's now have the authority to seize a vehicle immediately under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

The previous requirement to issue a warning first has been removed. If the behaviour meets the criteria, officers can take action on the spot.

🚓 What is a Section 59?

A Section 59 applies when a vehicle is being used in a way that:

- Contravenes Section 3 or 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, meaning careless or inconsiderate driving or illegal off‑road driving

- Causes alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public, or is likely to do so.

This includes behaviour such as:

- Revving engines or wheel‑spinning in residential areas

- Riding motorcycles or quad bikes on footpaths, parks or fields - Driving in a way that intimidates or disturbs others

- Anti‑social use of vehicles anywhere in the community

🚨 What's changed?

Officers no longer need to issue a warning first. If your driving meets the criteria above, your vehicle can be seized immediately.

This change is designed to help us tackle:

- Persistent nuisance vehicles

- Anti‑social driving

- Off‑road bikes causing disruption

- Behaviour that puts the public at risk

We’re committed to keeping our roads, parks and neighbourhoods safe. If you use a vehicle in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance, or drive carelessly or inconsiderately, you risk losing that vehicle on the spot.

Local Drug dealing / Drug use Message

Here’s a quick update on drugs dealing crime in your area, please be reassured that we’re taking this seriously and are here to help.

While carrying out routine patrols on Rainham Road South today, officers stopped a vehicle and conducted checks on the driver.
The driver was found to be driving not in accordance with their licence and without insurance. Officers also discovered that the individual was in possession of cannabis. As a result, the vehicle was seized and the driver was reported for the relevant offences.
In a separate incident on Alibon Road, officers stopped an individual who was found to be in possession of cannabis. The drugs were seized, and the individual was issued with a £90 penalty notice.
Keeping our roads safe and tackling criminal activity remain key priorities for your local policing team. If you have concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour in your area, please continue to report them to us so that we can take appropriate action.

Appeal for information as officers investigate concern for welfare report in Bournemouth

Officers are appealing to members of the public for assistance as they investigate a concern for welfare report in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 5.35pm on Tuesday 21 July 2026 raising concern for the welfare of a swimmer in the area of Durley Chine beach.

It was reported that between 2pm and 3pm, the swimmer asked members of the public to look after his belongings before entering the sea but did not return.

The swimmer is described as a white man aged in his 50s, with tanned skin and dark brown hair.

Officers have been carrying out searches in the area with support of HM Coastguard and the RNLI in efforts to find him.

Sergeant David Carmichael, of Dorset Police, said: “We are growing concerned for this swimmer’s welfare and are carrying out enquiries to locate him.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed a man matching the description given handing over his belongings or entering the water at Durley Chine beach between 2pm and 3pm on Tuesday 21 July 2026.

Increase in Rogue Trader Activity Across Dorset

We have seen an increase in reports of rogue traders operating across Dorset. These criminals often target homeowners, particularly older and vulnerable residents, and use high-pressure sales tactics to persuade people to agree to unnecessary or poor-quality work.

Common Rogue Trader Tactics

Be wary of anyone who cold calls at your door offering home repairs or maintenance. Legitimate traders do not usually obtain work by knocking on doors uninvited.

Common tactics include:

Claiming they have noticed damage to your roof, guttering, driveway, or property.

Showing you photographs of supposed damage which may be fake or unrelated to your home.

Saying they have been working locally and have "materials left over", allowing them to do the work at a discounted price.

Pressuring you to make an immediate decision.

Asking for cash payments or large upfront deposits.

Offering to drive you to your bank to withdraw money.

How to Protect Yourself

✅ Never agree to work from a cold caller.

✅ Always obtain at least three quotes before committing to any work.

✅ Use tradespeople recommended by friends, family, or recognised approved trader schemes.

✅ Ask for a written quotation before any work begins.

✅ Never pay cash if it can be avoided.

✅ Never agree to make an immediate payment or sign a contract on the spot.

✅ Speak to a trusted friend or family member before making any decisions.

✅ Do not rely solely on an ID card shown to you. Verify the trader independently by contacting their company using a telephone number from their official website or other trusted source.

✅ Remember that a genuine business will not pressure you into making an immediate financial decision.

Contact your bank immediately on 159. They may be able to help prevent further losses.

Check your bank statements regularly for any unusual transactions.

Report the incident to the relevant authorities.

Beware of Recovery Scams

Fraudsters sometimes contact previous victims claiming they can help recover lost money for a fee. This is a second scam.

❌ Never pay anyone who claims they can recover your money.

❌ Hang up on unexpected callers making such claims.

Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team - Weekly Update

It’s been a busy week for the team. Here's a quick look at some of the work we've been doing to keep our community safe and connected

One male issued with a Community Protection Warning in Poundbury following continued reports of the individual being involved in anti-social behaviour.

Officers stopped a male on Princes Street after he matched the description of someone causing anti-social behaviour nearby. During the stop, the male was found to have traces of white powder around his nose. As a result, he was searched and found in possession of a suspected Class B drug. The substance was seized and the male accepted an out of court disposal.

Members of the team attended an online multi-agency meeting to discuss an individual who has recently been coming to the attention of police and our partner agencies

Carried out a disruption visit to an individual who has recently been adopted as a known ‘Knife Carrying Nominal’. Work continues

Seized a vehicle in Piddlehinton due to the driver having no insurance. Driver issued with a Traffic Offence Report

Successfully supported Dorset Council with the eviction of persons from one of their sites

Conducted a joint visit with the Community Mental Health Team to further safeguard a male who has repeatedly come to the attention of services. Ongoing support continues with another visit planned

Carried out high visibility hotspot foot patrols in the town centre and a number of our villages

Completed joint visits with housing providers due to complaints of drug use and anti-social behaviour

Visited 2 schools to speak to staff and pupils

Carried out an intelligence led, plain clothed operation at Dorchester Market targeting the unlawful sale of knives. Knives located and seized. One male issued with a Community Resolution

The Woodside Safer Neighbourhoods Team today were down on Albert Road near South Norwood Country Park in regards to concerns around encampments being put up causing issues for residents and walkers in the park, we are happy to let you know that with the help of the council we have assisted with the removal of a few encampments this week and will continue to tackle this especially the ones who are causing issues for the community as well as our residents, whilst we understand that some of these campers do not have a place to live it does not mean that they can cause issues in our local parks and make residents feel unsafe, rest assured that we are aware of the reports and ongoing issues and will continue to tackle this.

Rick made it a solid 10 key finds for the year this afternoon, striking again in Rush Green.

Despite the resident not being home, Rick filled the time speaking to neighbours and compared beards with a man employed to install bollards.

40 minutes later and the keys were back in the happy hands of the returning occupant.

PCSO Update - July 2026

Good afternoon!

A few updates for you from over the last couple of weeks.

Firstly, I, with my colleague 7323 Cozens and 7935 James held a speed op on Deer Park Road through Towneley Park, between the play area and garden centre. This is a 20mph road, but we caught some road users going up to 50mph! Some drivers were stopped by officers and spoken to, and all others recorded going over the speed limit will also be contacted in due course. Please be mindful the park is a shared space by members of the public, children and wildlife alike, and remember the limit is there to keep everyone safe.

Secondly, Calico housing have contacted us to let us know of some anti-social behaviour concerns in and around the Brunshaw area over the past week or so. This includes children playing ‘knock a door run’ and playing ball games in areas where things are likely to get damaged or broken, including vehicles. Did you know, in the law, criminal damage can also be caused even if it wasn't intentional, but if someone is behaving recklessly enough that something was to become damaged, it would also constitute an offence. We're very lucky in the north of England to have such an abundance of park space, so please be mindful of where your children are playing, who this may impact, and speak to them about considerate and community mindful behaviour. This way, we can minimise the impact on our neighbours, stop any potential damage to property (unintentional or otherwise), and enjoy the lovely park spaces!

Thirdly, with our schools breaking up for their long awaited summer holidays, and the recent bouts of heatwaves we've been experiencing, now is a really good time for us as parents to re-establish boundaries and rules relating to behaviours and our expected conduct as members of our communities. I urge you to remind children (big and little!) of the dangers of swimming in open water, no matter how strong a swimmer they might be, who they need to contact in an emergency, how to do that, and to ensure you as parents have a system with your young people of knowing where they are, who they are with, and the places you are happy for them to be if they are out and about without your supervision. Children are always the responsibility of their parents, even if you are not physically with them!

Please remember, if you see anything that doesn't look right, or you need to report a crime, you can do this on 101 (or 999 if it is a life threatening emergency). Without the reports, we can't offer you as much support!

Along with beginning a new vehicle crime prevention initiative, Rick spent over 4 hours out in Rush Green today, finding another key along the way (7.30 miles).

Eastbrookend's Tom Thumb lake and the Discovery Centre (10.25am, p) were visited early on, before checking in on Fels Farm Mews (10.53am).

Valentines Way and Great Cullings made way for Parish Fields (11.19am), where every streets was patrolled, including Lupin Close (11.44am, p).

Harveys Lane and all of the east side of Dagenham Road, from Gorseway (12.14pm) to Lincoln Avenue, was covered, before a return-visit to Harveys Lane (p).

Great Cullings and Eastbrook Drive (e1.50pm) concluded the outing.
